Our friends at Food Lion (yes, that Food Lion) have published a pretty good chart that breaks down exercise by body weight to show calories burned per half-hour.

Check out the jump rope numbers. I think you can get a decent jump rope for about $1.29, which would seem to be a pretty good ROI for that number of calories burned. Especially when compared to the cost of a health club membership.
