If you’ve had doubts about the correlation between technology and achievement, you are in good company.
This New York Times article takes a critical look at a school district whose aggressive investments in technology – interactive white boards and clickers galore – have returned no discernible impact on achievement.
Which is not to argue that investing in classroom technology is a bad idea or a fruitless exercise. But school districts spending millions on technology for classrooms and laptops for students would do well to closely examine their priorities and expectations and the decision-making process behind those choices.
